Bills Reportedly Discussing Brown Trade
Saturday, Sept. 5
According to NFL Network's Albert Breer, while no potential partners are listed, Brown's name has come up in trade discussions for the Bills.
The Bills acquired Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles for a fourth-round pick last year. The 24-year-old played sparingly in Buffalo, recording 126 rushing yards and 176 receiving yards in seven games (two starts).
However, he would seem to be more valuable to the Bills offense now more than ever before. LeSean McCoy has been dealing with a strained hamstring since mid-August, though Bills head coach Rex Ryan is hopeful his starter can play Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
On August 31, the Bills released veteran running back Fred Jackson. That leaves Brown, Anthony Dixon and Karlos Williams as the backup options available to Ryan. All three players are big-bodied runners, each weighing over 220 pounds.
Buffalo offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who spent the past four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, loves to utilize a power running style. Brown does fit that style, but Buffalo's roster construction seems to have made him the odd man out.
