Dareus Does Not Dress vs. Steelers
Saturday, Aug. 29
According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, the Bills are holding Dareus out of action against the Steelers as he battles a sore leg.
While Dareus' absence may cause panic in Buffalo, Sal Maiorana of the Democrat and Chronicle said on Twitter that it was "not a surprise," and it should help Corbin Bryant get ready for Week 1 of the regular season:
The Bills need to see what Bryant can do with the first-team defense since Dareus will be suspended for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Dareus doesn't need a lot of preseason time at this point in his career. This is his fifth NFL season, coming off a terrific 2014 in which he racked up a career-high 10 sacks and was voted to the All-Pro team.
He will anchor Buffalo's defense when he returns, so getting Bryant valuable reps in the most important preseason game is a smart strategy by head coach Rex Ryan.
