Barcelona boast the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in their front line, so naturally it was up to last season's forgotten man, Thomas Vermaelen, to open the scoring for the Catalans against Malaga on Saturday.

Vermaelen transferred from Arsenal before the 2014-15 season, but he was plagued by injury and only made one appearance for the club last term.

Healthy and now thrust into duty, the Belgian smartly hammered home a rebound to break a deadlock in the 72nd minute against Malaga.

Of course.

He hadn't scored since December 2012, when he was with Arsenal.
