Swansea vs. Manchester United: Louis Van Gaal's Key Pre-Match Presser Comments

Christopher SimpsonAug 28, 2015

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal believes his side's trip to Swansea City is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the Red Devils' improvement under him.

Van Gaal addressed the media on Friday at his pre-match press conference.

The Dutchman hoped his team would perform better against the Swans than last season, after Garry Monk's side did the double over United. Per United's official Twitter feed, he said:

Van Gaal also gave the latest updates on Marouane Fellaini, Adnan Januzaj and Phil Jones' availability, per United and football writer Chris Winterburn:

According to Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News, the 64-year-old was asked about United's possible transfer activity before the end of the window, while Winterburn gave his take on the manager's response:

Lastly, Van Gaal gave his reaction to United's Champions League group, which comprises PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow, and confirmed he would be scouting their opposition ahead of their ties:

The group is hardly as imposing as Manchester City's, but Van Gaal is wise to scout United's potentially tricky opponents, so expect them to be well-prepared for their full return to European football.

As for Saturday, United will face a stern test from Monk's charges, who have begun the season in strong form and will be full of confidence after their unbeaten start to the campaign.

However, the Red Devils, though not always convincing, have won four of their five matches in all competitions this season and conceded just once, so the defensive partnership between Chris Smalling and Daley Blind will prove a difficult obstacle for the Swans to overcome.

Further, Wayne Rooney's midweek hat-trick signalled his long-awaited return to form, and the United skipper will be eager to add to his tally as he continues to silence any doubters.
