Letroy Guion's 3-Game Suspension Upheld: Latest Details and Comments

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Letroy Guion will be suspended for the first three games of the NFL season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. He had been appealing the punishment, but the NFL did not reduce his suspension or eradicate it, as noted by Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Guion, 28, was arrested on felony charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm in February after he was pulled over by police and his truck was searched. He ultimately came to a plea agreement in that case, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Guion was a key figure for the Packers in 2014, starting every game and registering 32 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble. That led the team to sign him to a one-year deal this offseason.

It's certainly been a rough few days for the Packers, who lost Jordy Nelson for the season to an ACL tear and will also be without Datone Jones for the first game of the season due to suspension.

Guion was excellent for Green Bay last year after B.J. Raji was lost for the season to a torn biceps and was expected to give the team excellent depth at nose tackle this season.

While Raji's return to the team means they'll be in good hands with Guion sidelined, the Packers are an injury away from being extremely thin on the defensive line in the early portion of the season.
