Talks Stall Between Packers, Daniels

Citing sources, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn reported, "negotiations between Daniels and the Packers broke off recently with the two sides far apart in their positions."
The former fourth-round pick is entering his fourth season with the Packers and is slated to earn a shade over $1.5 million in the final year of his rookie deal before hitting unrestricted free agency, per Spotrac.
And while talks haven't progressed to promising points thus far, McGinn reported Daniels is willing to discuss an extension once the season starts.
However, he's leaving the details to his agent.
"That's his job," Daniels said, per McGinn. "That's why I hired him, and I have full confidence in him. I do my job. He does his job."
After starting just one game during his second season in Green Bay, Daniels appeared as a starter in all 16 games of the 2014 campaign. During that time, he emerged as one of the league's premier 3-4 defensive ends—notching 5.5 sacks and a career-high 30 tackles.
According to Pro Football Focus, Daniels graded out as the league's eighth-best 3-4 defensive end behind only J.J. Watt, Sheldon Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson, Calais Campbell, Fletcher Cox, Cameron Heyward and Jurrell Casey.
With the 26-year-old rapidly evolving into a core piece of Green Bay's defense, it would behoove the Packers to try to get a deal done with Daniels down the line after ranking 31st in run defense last season, per Pro Football Focus.
