Whisenhunt Comments On McCourty's Injury

Tuesday, Aug. 25

"It was something we thought was going to be able to be fixed through the rehab process, and it just wasn't responding as quickly as we would have liked," head coach Ken Whisenhunt explained on Aug. 25, via Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com. "[The surgery] went very well, and now it's just the process of rehab.

How McCourty's Injury Impacts the Titans

The 28-year-old defensive back played all 16 regular-season games in each of the past three years. The addition of Perrish Cox was expected to give the Titans a reliable one-two punch on the outside, but we haven't been able to see that in action thus far.

The Titans allowed just 194.7 passing yards per game heading into Week 5, which ranked 6th in the league. McCourty's return will provide them with a boost that should help them maintain one of their biggest areas of strength.

At 1-2, the Titans are coming off of a bye week and are undoubtedly hoping an extra week of rest has given McCourty an opportunity to return to full health as they look to turn their season around.
