Manchester United Transfer News: Neymar Barcelona Exit Rubbished, Latest Rumours

Christopher SimpsonAug 24, 2015

Barcelona star Neymar's rumoured link with Manchester United has been rubbished, with the Brazilian believed to be soon signing a new contract with the Blaugrana.

Jamie Jackson of the Guardian reported "Neymar is open to moving to Manchester United from Barcelona." However, Bleacher Report columnist Guillem Balague is thoroughly unconvinced:

Speaking after Barca's opening weekend win on Sunday, manager Luis Enrique would not entertain the speculation. Per Sky Sports, he said: "It doesn't interest me to talk about rumours, nor these types of situations."

For all of the Red Devils' history and stature in world football, a Neymar move to Old Trafford would be sensational to say the least.

Furthermore, Barca are unlikely to welcome any interest in their second-biggest star unless he is genuinely desperate to leave, which is highly improbable given the forward's potential to emulate Lionel Messi's status at the club.

Football journalist Rafael Hernandez explained his belief that United's pursuit of Neymar may be genuine:

However, Hernandez also explained, via Twitter, another sizeable obstacle to the 23-year-old moving and added that while the Red Devils may be pursuing Neymar, he's not likely to leave the Camp Nou. He said:

"

If he wants the move, Neymar would have to deposit his €190 million release clause himself, taxes would make it substantially more expensive.

Barcelona can refuse the offer, but they cannot impede Neymar from leaving if he deposits the €190 million and rescinds his contract.

Sounds ridiculous that Neymar would seek a move after winning the treble and playing alongside Messi. Nothing to suggest it.

Barça’s wage bill is currently 73 per cent of the budget, troublesome amount, but they are working on Neymar’s renewal at the moment.

"

After scoring 39 goals in all competitions last season and assisting 11, the Brazilian could stroll into virtually any team in the world and would, of course, improve United's forward line dramatically.

A move for Neymar in the foreseeable future is wholly inconceivable, though, regardless of whether United have made their interest in him concrete or not.

As with the Neymar rumour, the transfer window continues to earn its "silly season" nickname, with the Mirror's Steve Bates linking United with a dramatic late capture of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

Though a move for Bale is certainly more realistic than Neymar given his difficult circumstances at the Bernabeu, the Welshman is unlikely to seek a move away from the Spanish capital until he's had at least one more season to win over the fickle section of Madridistas who jeer him.

Should they continue to jeer as he struggles to impress them, Bale could well be tempted to depart Real's pressure-cooker environment, but that certainly won't be this summer.

As for United, time is running out in the transfer window and the Red Devils are still short on firepower.

Expect them to continue being linked with every marquee forward under the sun, but as the end of the summer draws near, it's looking increasingly likely that United will fail to make the necessary recruitment.
