CC Sabathia Injury: Updates on Yankees Pitcher's Knee and Return
New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Sept. 9, after being out since Aug. 23 because of a knee injury that was diagnosed as arthritis.
"I am surprised," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Sept. 5 about Sabathia likely starting against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, per ESPN's Andrew Marchand. "Now we just have to see how the knee reacts to what we did [Friday]. If it is good, then we'll probably put him in the rotation."
This is great news for the Yankees, as there was concern he might not be able to pitch again this season. "Is it possible he won't pitch the rest of the year? It's possible." Girardi said on Aug. 24, via Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Sabathia, 35, left the game against Cleveland after giving up two runs in 2.2 innings, per Yankees PR (h/t YES Network). Rookie reliever Nick Rumbelow, who before Aug. 23 had not given up a run in his last seven appearances, came in for relief.
In his seventh season as a Yankee, Sabathia has been nowhere near his former All-Star self. The high-paid lefty has a 5.27 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 4-9 record.
