Busquets Injures Ankle in La Liga Opener

Sunday, Aug. 23

Barcelona's official Twitter account confirmed Busquets' exit during Sunday's match, noting afterward he had an ankle injury and would be evaluated tomorrow, via Dermot Corrigan of ESPN. 

The injury forced manager Luis Enrique to shuffle his side with Marc Bartra coming on for the Spaniard with Javier Mascherano moving up from defence.

The news is an early blow to Barca's title defence, as the Blaugrana also saw Dani Alves limp out of the match. 

Barca may not field new recruits such as Arda Turan or Aleix Vidal until January owing to their transfer embargo, so it will be up to the likes of Sergi Samper and Sergi Roberto to step up in Busquets' absence.
