Long-Term Neymar Deal Expected Soon, Bartomeu Discusses Star
Monday, Sept. 7
"Rafinha and Adriano will renew their Barcelona contracts in the near future, with Neymar joining them in the coming months, according to Mundo Deportivo," relayed Sky Sports.
"We do not want Neymar to leave," Bartomeu told Club Mitjanit (h/t Goal.com's Mark Doyle) on Aug. 24. "He is young, and we want him to retire here at our club. We will discuss Neymar's renewal in some months' time as he must stay here—not only for the next three seasons, but for the next five or 10."
Mega United Offer for Neymar Reported, Player Said to be Keen

"United have made a colossal £140 million bid for Neymar, according to reports in Brazil," relayed the Mirror, citing Brazilian publication GloboEsporte.
On Aug. 21, Shaun Custis of the Sun wrote executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had travelled to the Camp Nou on three separate occasions in the past two months, with the United chief using the discussions over Pedro's future as an opening to bid for Neymar.
A source told the tabloid: “United are one of the biggest clubs in the world so it is right they should be chasing a player who has the potential to be the best player on the planet.”

On Aug. 23, Jamie Jackson of the Guardian claimed the player has told the Red Devils he is "open" to joining the Old Trafford giants.
Neymar was key to Luis Enrique's side treble success last term, scoring 32 goals in La Liga and the Champions League, per WhoScored.com.
He is the standard of player United need, but the sum mentioned would surely not be paid by the prudent American owners of the club.
However, United manager Louis van Gaal has persuaded the Glazer family to spend an enormous amount of money in the past 12 months, and the commercial opportunities in owning a player like Neymar would be limitless.
