NFL Preseason 2015: Schedule and Ticket Info for Remainder of Week 2

Chris RolingAug 23, 2015

The NFL saved the best for last in Week 2 of the preseason.

There are four games left on tap before things transition to Week 3, where teams play their starters the most of any game as the final tuneup before the real thing.

So far this week, the action has been fun. Johnny Manziel breathed life into Cleveland's quarterback competition, Bryce Petty led the New York Jets in passing on the way to a win, and a young gun such as Chicago Bears rookie back Jeremy Langford led his contest in rushing while leading the team to a win.

Top Remaining Matchups

St. Louis at Tennessee

Again, it's all about the notable changes around the league, not the best of the best, with teams sure to play starters for maybe a drive or two and call it a day.

This isn't the case between the St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans. The allure here, of course, is Tennessee rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, one half of a top-heavy draft class everyone ranging from the Titans to the league as a whole expects to excel out of the gates.

So far, so good for Mariota, who looked solid in his first start last week. He had a few hiccups, but as Bleacher Report's Dan Hope illustrated, it was a productive outing:

The next task isn't as easy for Mariota, who will need to avoid similar hiccups against a superb St. Louis defense.

More interesting when it comes to the Rams, though, is the new-look offense led by former Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles. It didn't go so well for the unit's brief debut last week—an 18-3 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

How Foles and underused weapons such as wideout Tavon Austin bounce back before handing things over to backups will prove one of the top things to watch. It seems every year the Rams are the pesky team in the NFC West able to secure some of the toughest wins possible but tout little in the consistency department.

Two teams looking good on paper will need to execute Sunday if the next step is improving as a whole this year.

Cincinnati at Tampa Bay

By now, everyone should know the other half of the hyped quarterback class.

Jameis Winston didn't have the most resounding pro debut, either, which is what most should expect from rookies no matter how great they were in college. The former Florida State star went 9-of-19 with 131 yards and a pick in an eventual loss to Minnesota.

He made a point to stress that one half isn't a strong way to judge his or the team's outlook when he spoke to Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620 (via JoeBucsFan.com): “Fans, please don’t panic about one half of football. Please, there’s no reason to. We did some great things and we’re going to build on the positives.”

Winston's hurdle becomes much more significant on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team with an elite defense led by tackle Geno Atkins.

It might also be quite a shootout, based on Cincinnati's play in Week 1. Andy Dalton and the starters breezed to a touchdown before handing things over to the versatile Josh Johnson, while a stable of talented backs pounded the rock on the way to a win.

Cincinnati remains one of the league's deepest teams on both sides of the football, so it makes the Bengals one of the preseason's most dangerous. For Winston, a debut in front of home fans on national television against an elite defense will provide a notable measuring stick for his pro development.
