Giants' Cam Skattebo Addresses NFL Ref's Decision on Unnecessary Roughness Penalty in New Video

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo was chagrined over his unnecessary roughness penalty in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Houston Texans.

The officials flagged him for the 15-yard foul after he lowered his head to brace for contact from Texans safety M.J. Stewart.

After the game, Skattebo called out what he believes is a level of hypocrisy:

The second-year ball-carrier had a big game in Week 7, running for 124 yards and one touchdown.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported he appeared to avoid a serious hamstring injury as well, so he shouldn't be headed for a spell on the sideline.

Skattebo had quite the response on the field after coach John Harbaugh effectively took him out of the lineup for a Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He didn't have a carry and logged six total snaps in the 34-27 defeat.

"I got taught a lesson," Skattebo said in the aftermath of the game. "I don't know if that's from them or from myself, but I had to take a step back and figure out why I was doing the things that I was doing and what exactly was happening."

The bruising runner was bound to have a bigger spotlight after New York released Najee Harris. But it was up to him to make the most of his chance, and he did just that.

The Giants are off in Week 8, so Skattebo will have additional time to recuperate if his hamstring is giving him a little trouble. The team returns to action on Nov. 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are allowing an average of 119.3 yards on the ground.

It should be a good matchup for Skattebo to build on what he did against Houston.
