Cowboys' Brian Schottenheimer 'Pissed Off' Amid 2-4 Start to NFL Season, Vows to Solve Team's Issues

Despite a tough start to the 2026 season, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer isn't going down without a fight.

Schottenheimer declared on Thursday that he's displeased with the Cowboys' 2-4 start, and he's doing everything he can to help the team bounce back.

"Am I frustrated and pissed off? You're damn right I am," Schottenheimer told reporters. "But I'm gonna roll my sleeves up and I'm gonna go to work. And I'm gonna solve it."

Schottenheimer acknowledged the increased criticism over the past few weeks and said he's no stranger to navigating adversity.

"I think it comes with the territory. I think some of it is deserved. We got to play better. I got to coach better. When you grow up in a family that your dad is a head coach for over 20 years, you understand that this is part of the job description," Schottenheimer told reporters. "No one likes it. I block out most of it. Some of it gets to me. Doing this job and having to speak to you guys is part of that. But at the same time, I've got strong shoulders. I know what a great coach I am. I know what this team is capable of. That's what I focus on."

The Cowboys are riding a two-game skid into their NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) on Monday Night Football. Dallas' high-powered offense has failed to reach the 20-point mark in back-to-back games and was left searching for answers after its latest subpar showing.

"We got to figure that out," Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said of the team's offensive struggles after Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. "I wish I could give you that answer at this time. (I have to) watch the film to see what wasn't done or what wasn't executed efficiently. I know I had plays out there that I want back that I know directly correlated to a turnover and us getting off the field on third down, and fourth down on one of them. I don't have the answer for the whole team and what that is, but I believe in who we are and I know we have the talent and the men that care. We just have to put it together. Our process is right, but we have to win on Sunday."

In addition to their offensive woes, the Cowboys have also had a hard time finding consistency on defense. The team ranks 30th in the NFL with 382.5 yards allowed per game, worse than last year's average of 377.0 yards allowed.

Schottenheimer is now 9-13-1 since being hired as head coach of the Cowboys in 2025, so he will need to show some improvements quickly if he wants to avoid the hot seat at the end of this season.
