New Shedeur Sanders Trade Rumors Leak After Browns QB Hires Travis Hunter's Agent

Adam WellsOct 17, 2026

Even though Shedeur Sanders recently hired an agent for the first time in his NFL career after previously representing himself, there's nothing to indicate he is leaving the Cleveland Browns imminently.

Per The Athletic's Jonathan Jones, citing discussions with people around the league and Browns officials, it would be a surprise if Sanders were to be moved prior to the trade deadline.

Sanders' new agent, Adie von Gontard of Young Money APAA Sports, also represents Travis Hunter. Sanders and Hunter were teammates for three seasons in college.

A fifth-round pick in the 2025 draft, Sanders rookie contract runs through the 2028 season. He will become extension eligible after the 2027 campaign.

Cleveland's quarterback situation has quieted down somewhat because Deshaun Watson has had moments when he has looked okay. His 268 passing yards in a Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers were his most in a game since Sept. 24, 2023.

Last week was a significant step back for Watson, who finished 15-of-33 for 155 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in a 17-12 loss to the New York Jets.

The Browns being 3-2 so far has also taken some pressure off head coach Todd Monken.

Sanders' lone appearance so far this season was in Week 3 when he threw one pass in a win over the Carolina Panthers after Watson took a hard hit on the previous play.

One reason the Browns might not be looking to trade Sanders right now, according to Jones, is general manager Andrew Berry has "great affection" for the second-year quarterback.

Sanders started seven games as a rookie, leading the Browns to a 3-4 record. He threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight appearances last season.
