Randy Orton Interrupts The Main Event

Rhodes punished Corbin, but before he could score the win, Randy Orton emerged out of nowhere, attacking his former protege beating him around ringside.

Once he returned to the squared circle with The American Nightmare, Orton set up for the punt. Rhodes evaded it and sent The Viper scurrying to the protection of the arena floor.

Corbin attacked from there, still looking to send Rhodes a message. It proved costly as the former WWE champion rocked him with a Cody Cutter, then set up and finally executed a punt of his own.

Now, undisputedly at Orton's level, the babyface stood tall, the Legend Killer uncertain of what he had awakened in Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton Face-to-Face...or Not

The American Nightmare made his way to the squared circle for his scheduled confrontation with Randy Orton.

Instead, he was interrupted by Baron Corbin.

The Nomad said the only thing that mattered was that he got back to where he belongs: at the top of SmackDown.

The verbal back-and-forth gave way to another impromptu main event for tonight's show.

Fenix vs. Saints, continued

Saints set up for Rochambeu, but Fenix escaped, then rocked the New Orleans native with a kick.

Back-and-forth action ensued before Fenix caught Saints up top. He set up for the Mexican Muscle Buster, but Saints fought him off. A huge uppercut stunned the heel, and Fenix again joined his opponent on the ropes.

The heel escaped and sent referee Charles Robinson into Fenix, causing the babyface to become tangled in the corner.

Saints tried to take advantage, even delivering the Rochambeau, but Robinson refused to count and actually disqualified the heel.

WINNER: REY FENIX (via disqualification)

After the match, Saints landed a few more cheap shots, suggesting the rivalry between the two is far from finished.

A good match that could have been even better if the creative team did even the slightest to get fans invested in Saints.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Fenix vs. Ricky Saints

Fenix started hot and teased soaring through the air, but Saints momentarily stunned him.

Recovered, the champion walked the top rope, kicked the challenger in the head, and wiped him out on the floor with a big crossbody.

Saints downed the luchador during the timeout and seized control of the match.

Scheming Sami Confronts Rey Fenix

Looking to take every possible angle to avoid being cashed in on by Mr. Money in the Bank, Zayn confronted AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix backstage.

He probed for information about when Penta may be looking to cash in his guaranteed title opportunity, but Fenix refused to speak for his brother.

Championship Celebration

New WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley hit the ring to celebrate their title win last week.

Bliss touted Paxley's first championship victory and demanded the crowd react for her.

The latest NXT export thanked Charlotte Flair for giving up her spot in last week's match and claimed to have a very special present waiting for her when she gets back.

Fatal Influence's Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid interrupted.

The Women's United States Champion demanded the crowd shut up and respect her because she was injured in Money in the Bank, then claimed that the minute Flair is back, Paxley will be right back in her shadow.

The tag champion dared the heels to do something about it tonight. They tried, but the champions stood tall to close the segment.

Danhausen and "Gooner" Set for Rematch

Backstage, The Ring General burst into Nick Aldis' office and defended his beatdown of Danhausen on last week's show, only to find out that it was the very nice, very evil Superstar in there.

Despite Danhausen asking for their rematch after Halloween, since he is the special guest host of NXT's Halloween Havoc, the Career Killer insisted on it occurring in two weeks on SmackDown.

"Do I look like someone who celebrates Halloween?"

R-Truth vs. Damian Priest

An angrier, more aggressive, and mean-spirited Priest beat down Truth early and often in Friday's match while Graves discussed the ingredients that made The Archer of Infamy a former world champion.

Truth "turned back the clock," according to Joseph on commentary, scaling the ropes and delivering a missile dropkick.

The landing was awkward, to say the least, leading to a referee stoppage.

Priest grabbed a chair and threatened to utilize it on his former friend, but Fraxiom hit the ring to protect and check on Truth.

The heel exited and talked trash on the way out.

RESULT: REFEREE STOPPAGE

That was an unfortunate conclusion to what was likely to be a big night for Priest. Hopefully, Truth is OK, though. Nathan Frazer and Axiom making the save was a nice callback to last week's show and at least proves that the segment involving them was not a throwaway vignette.

Aldis Calms CM Punk and Kevin Owens Tension

Backstage, Aldis implored Kevin Owens and CM Punk to stay out of each other's way while he continues to seek the best time to book the one-on-one match between them.

Owens threw something back at them as he exited, causing Punk to respond, "children."

If you know, you know.

Paige vs. Bella, continued

Bella swung wildly coming out of the break, allowing Paige to duck and down her with a fisherman's suplex. A German suplex followed as the British babyface built momentum.

Building on Bella's past romance, Paige set up for a Five Knuckle Shuffle, ala John Cena, but found herself tripped up and stuck in an STF.

Paige escaped and delivered an Attitude Adjustment as the tribute to the Last Real Champion continued.

Bella answered with a nasty forearm, but Paige kicked out at two. Moments later, Paige nearly collided with referee Daphne LaShaunn. The momentary hesitation allowed her opponent to roll her up. Paige countered, got her foot on the rope, and picked up the win.

WINNER: PAIGE

Turnabout is fair play as Paige picked up the tainted win to even the series between the two at one win apiece. A perfectly fine match.

Backstage, R-Truth vowed to beat Damian Priest's ass in an interview with Cathy Kelley.

Paige vs. Nikki Bella

The rivalry between the former partners and friends continued Friday, with Bella jumping Paige at the opening bell and tossing her into the ring steps.

The former NXT women's champion responded by sending Bella into the guardrail.

The Hall of Famer turned the tide on her opponent and seized control entering the break, one step closer to a WWE Women's Championship opportunity.

Women's Division Tidbits

Backstage, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis informed Blake Monroe that she will square off with Giulia in a Street Fight on next week's show.

Chelsea Green arrived and brought up her interaction with the Judgment Day from Monday night until Nikki Bella interrupted.

After calling herself the "young, hotter version" of the Hall of Famer, she challenged her to a match next week. Bella claimed she would be busy with "Hall of Famer things," so it would have to wait two weeks.

Paige entered the arena for her match with Bella as the show headed to break.

Williams vs. Gargano, continued

After Gargano dominated throughout the commercial break by targeting his lower body, Williams fought back into the match with a furious comeback.

He dropped Gargano with a flapjack and teed off on him in the corner while Zayn mocked him on commentary.

Williams rocked Gargano with a big boot and added a modified Death Valley Driver for a near-fall.

Gargano recovered and teased a Helluva Kick, an ode to Zayn, but Williams moved out of the way. When he slingshotted back through the ropes, the babyface caught him with a big knee to the face. The Book End followed for the win.

WINNER: TRICK WILLIAMS

A good, competitive match that was better than the crowd's reaction would indicate, it gave Williams a big victory while keeping his ongoing rivalry with Zayn alive and strong.

A solid way to kick off the first quarter of this show.

Trick Williams vs. Johnny Gargano (with Candice LeRae)

Zayn joined Vic Joseph and Corey Graves on commentary for the contest, watching as Williams felt the early effects of Gargano's targeting of his left knee.

Williams fended off his fellow former NXT champion, and when the action spilled to the floor, he sent Gargano face-first into the announce table. LeRae provided a distraction, allowing her husband to deliver a dragon screw leg whip before sending Williams over the commentary table.

The heel basked in Zayn's applause, entering the timeout.

Trick Williams Interrupts Sami Zayn

"This is personal. Every single time you see Trick Williams, you see the people turning on you. Every time you see Trick Williams, you see WrestleMania," the United States Champion said as he stood across the ring from his long-time foe.

He vowed to kick Zayn's ass, to which the top dog on SmackDown said he would not be disrespected. "You tried to turn everything into a joke because that's all you are," the heel said.

After claiming Williams needed to learn how to survive in the jungle. He did, and look where he is compared to where the former NFL star is.

"Take a swing and see what happens to you," Williams threatened.

Gargano jumped in between the rivals and addressed Trick.

"You've been handed things we've had to fight for," Johnny Wrestling said.

A verbal exchange led to an impromptu match-up between Williams and Gargano to kick off the in-ring portion of the show.

Sami Zayn Kicks Off SmackDown

Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn kicked off the show, flanked by Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Zayn took a victory lap, overly happy about the failures of CM Punk, Kevin Owen, Trick Williams, and Je'Von Evans to win Money in the Bank on Saturday night in New Orleans.

The Last Real Good Guy told Penta to stay focused on Roman Reigns and claimed to understand his personal vendetta against The OTC, which he will address face-to-face with the World Heavyweight Champion on Monday's Raw.

A familiar foe interrupted.

Setting The Stage

Earlier today, Cody Rhodes arrived at the arena ahead of his face-to-face with Randy Orton.

Elsewhere, R-Truth and Damian Priest both entered the building, hours before the former tag team champions clash in a grudge match.

Finally, new Women's Tag Team Champions Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss arrived before a grand title celebration later in the broadcast.
