Watch Shohei Ohtani's Epic Reaction to Ending HR Drought on Video in Dodgers-Brewers NLCS Game 4
Shohei Ohtani broke out of his slump in a major way on Thursday night.
Ohtani was fired up after launching a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning during Game 4 of the Los Angeles Dodgers' NLCS matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers.
It represented the four-time MVP's first homer since Aug. 18.
Ohtani was plagued by injuries during the regular season, as left knee inflammation forced the two-way star to stop pitching in July. The Dodgers later placed him on the 15-day injured list due to left knee and right biceps issues.
While Ohtani was able to join the team again before the end of the regular season, he struggled at the plate.
He posted a mere .558 OPS across five regular-season appearances upon returning and continued to fall below expectations once the playoffs started.
In seven postseason games heading into Thursday's action, Ohtani compiled a .182/.333/.182 slash line with seven strikeouts in 22 at-bats.
The Brewers lead the Dodgers 3-0 in the NLCS, but Los Angeles' chances of a comeback should improve if the 32-year-old can become a key contributor once again.
After all, Ohtani has recorded 139 home runs in his three years as a member of the Dodgers. He also racked up 11 homers in 33 postseason games during Los Angeles' playoff runs that ended with World Series titles in 2024 and 2025.
