New WWE Rumors on Cody Rhodes' Contract Extension After Comments on Retirement Timeline

After Cody Rhodes recently revealed he signed a new contract with WWE, details about the deal have been made available.

Per Emmanuel Morgan of the New York Times, Rhodes' extension is a five-year contract.

It's unclear how much time Rhodes had left on his previous deal, but the five-year timeline ensures he will remain with WWE at least into 2031.

Rhodes previously said on the Flagrant podcast that he "just re-signed" with WWE, though he didn't specify how long the deal was for.

He also revealed his plan to "end [his] wrestling career" in WWE, and retirement "probably will happen sooner than later."

Rhodes explained part of his desire to walk away stems from his oldest daughter: "When my daughter is 11 years old, I'm not going to be falling down for a living anymore."

Cody and Brandi Rhodes have two children. Their oldest was born in June 2021. Brandi gave birth to their second daughter in August 2025.

Rhodes specifically mentioning not falling down for a living when his daughter is 11 would seem to indicate this new contract will be his last one as an in-ring competitor.

The 41-year-old Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022 after helping establish AEW when it launched in 2019. He has won the undisputed WWE title three times since making his comeback and has been featured in the WrestleMania main event every year since 2023.
