We're heading into Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season, and fantasy managers face a range of outlooks based on their records.
For those at 4-1, everything is coming up roses. At 3-2, there's room for improvement, but they're still on the right side of .500.
Conversely, a 2-3 start isn't ideal, but it's more manageable than 1-4, especially for managers dealing with injuries and disappointing production.
Regardless of their circumstances, all fantasy managers have one thing in common: They want a win in Week 6. We want to help you do just that with position-by-position PPR rankings, player notes, start-or-sit recommendations and sleepers.
Week 6 Player Rankings
1 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
Before we get to this week's player rankings (which include the top 124 players overall to assist in making "flex" lineup calls), a few quick notes.
The first is the same as alwaysโthe overall rankings do not include quarterbacks. If your league employs a "superflex" spot and you have a viable QB2, start them there. Even mediocre signal-callers are generally more consistent as flex options.
The second is that Week 6 is the first four-team bye weekโthe Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings are all off. This may be the only week that Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs doesn't blow up.
Finally, if you're sitting at 1-4 and in last place, the last thing you want from this writer is a pep talk. Believe me, I know your pain. But don't look at the hole you're in as one big problem. Break it down into smaller ones. Treat every week like a mini-season all its own. Make some waiver-wire moves, and don't be afraid to be bold with your lineup decisions.
Find a way to eke out a win in Week 6 and then try to stack a few victories.
Stranger things have happened.
WEEK 6 PLAYER RANKINGS
Quarterbacks
2 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of one.
For most quarterbacks, completing just 12 passes and throwing just a single touchdown pass would portend at best a mediocre fantasy week. But Allen is not most quarterbacksโdespite just 210 passing yards against the Los Angeles Rams, Allen also ran for 121 yards and another touchdown on the way to finishing third in fantasy points among quarterbacks for the week.
Allen now has eight rushing scores for the season and is the highest-scoring quarterback by a wide margin.
Paying up for him this year may not have been such a bad idea after all.
Quarterback Notes
Josh Allen wasn't the only quarterback who piled up rushing yards in Week 5โin his return from a dislocated elbow, Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders ran for 103 yards and a pair of scores against the New York Giants.
Drake Maye of the New England Patriots started the season slowlyโMaye failed to amass 10 fantasy points in any of his first three starts. But Maye has been on fire the past two weeksโincluding 374 passing yards, four touchdown passes and a rushing score last week against the Las Vegas Raiders.
There's some optimism that Lamar Jackson (ankle) of the Baltimore Ravens will be able to return in Week 6โso much so that he's included in this week's rankings. But Tyler Huntley played well in Jackson's steadโif the Ravens play it safe and sit Jackson another week Huntley would check in as a decent QB2 against the Cleveland Browns.
Start of the Week
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (vs. Washington Commanders)
Purdy has gone from a low-end fantasy QB1 in drafts over the summer to the highest-scoring fantasy quarterback in the NFC. The good times will keep rolling on Monday night against Washington's 29th-ranked pass defense.
Sit of the Week
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (at Green Bay Packers)
Many fantasy managers will have little recourse but to roll Prescott out Sunday night against the Packers. But Prescott has quietly had just one 20-point game this season and draws a bottom-five fantasy matchup for the position at Lambeau Field.
Sleeper of the Week
Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas Raiders (vs. Buffalo Bills)
Cousins has quietly been a top-10 fantasy quarterback over the first five weeks of the season, and he could have another solid outing in Week 6. The Bills are doing many things well right now, but playing defense is not one of them.
Running Backs
3 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the season with a committee backfield, but while Rico Dowdle (toe) has been sidelined, Jaylen Warren has done his level best to establish himself as the team's lead back.
Warren has been nothing short of outstanding the past few weeks. After piling up 181 total yards and two touchdowns last week against the Indianapolis Colts, he has averaged 107 rushing yards a game over that span, adding just over 40 yards per contest over that same stretch.
Warren is fourth in PPR points among running backs over the last three weeks, and head coach Mike McCarthy has called him "the man" in the Pittsburgh backfield.
Running Back Notes
Injuries continued to mount in the backfield in Week 5. David Montgomery of the Houston Texans (groin) and TreVeyon Henderson of the New England Patriots (ankle) both left their games early. Quinshon Judkins of the Cleveland Browns (ankle) finished the loss to the New York Jets, but he was spotted in a walking boot after the game.
The Philadelphia Eagles may have to hold running back tryouts in the parking lot of The Lincโwith Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and backup Will Shipley (foot) both expected to miss Week 6, Dameon Pierce has rapidly gone from the practice squad to Philly's lead back.
Entering the season, Omarion Hampton of the Los Angeles Chargers was viewed as a rising talent and fringe RB1. But the Bolts have struggled, and Hampton is sharing work in a three-headed backfield. He ranks as RB36 in PPR scoring through five weeks.
Start of the Week
Emanuel Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (at Denver Broncos)
Wilson has scored on the ground each of the last two weeks, although he also fumbled in both of those games. The fourth-year veteran will make it three games in a row with a touchdown this week against a surprisingly porous Denver defense.
Sit of the Week
Woody Marks, Houston Texans (at Jacksonville Jaguars, London)
With David Montgomery on the shelf, Marks will be a popular player on waiver wires this week. But he should be benched where possible in Week 6โthe Jaguars led the league in run defense last year and are right back in that spot in 2026.
Sleeper of the Week
Dameon Pierce, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Carolina Panthers)
Pierce was not great last week in London, gaining just 14 yards on 11 carries. The sledding should be significantly easier this week against the Panthers, who have surrendered 156.5 yards per game on the ground in 2026.
Wide Receivers
4 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
The Los Angeles Rams came up just short Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. But wide receiver Puka Nacua can't be blamed for the setback that dropped the Rams to 2-3 for the season.
Nacua has missed time this season, but when he's been out there, he has been productive, culminating in a ridiculous 17/138/1 stat line against the Bills.
Nacua is averaging just over eight yards per catch this seasonโnot very Nacua-likeโbut he was Week 5's highest-scoring wideout. He's averaging a jaw-dropping 15 targets per game, and only Seattle's Jaxon Smith-Njigba is averaging more PPR points per game.
Nacua now looks poised for another big week against the Arizona Cardinals.
Wide Receiver Notes
The list of banged-up wide receivers continues to grow. Although fantasy managers got Justin Jefferson back in Week 5, several other receivers suffered injuries.
Deebo Samuel Sr. of the San Francisco 49ers hurt his hamstring, CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys sustained a quad contusion, and Roman Wilson of the Pittsburgh Steelers is expected to miss time with a finger injury.
Among this year's high-scorers at wide receiver in fantasy leagues, the biggest early surprise may well be Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers. Watson caught two long touchdown passes in last week's win over the rival Bears, and he's third at the position in PPR points after five weeks.
The trade last weekend that sent Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston has rekindled hopes that the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft can resurrect his lagging career. But now Harrison has to learn a new offense, and Nico Collins is the unquestioned alpha in that passing game. Harrison's still an end-of-the-bench fantasy reserve.
Start of the Week
Luther Burden III, Chicago Bears (at Atlanta Falcons)
Burden's production has taken a hit with all the shakeups at quarterback in the Windy City. But if Caleb Williams can't play Sunday, Case Keenum should get the nodโand he frequently targeted Burden in his first start this year.
Sit of the Week
Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers (at Kansas City Chiefs)
McConkey's disastrous 2026 season continued in Week 5โhe was active but didn't play a snap against the Broncos. Now he gets a Chiefs team allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts five weeks into the season.
Sleeper of the Week
Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders (vs. Buffalo Bills)
Tucker has been relatively quiet since a big outing in Week 2, but if ever there was a week for him to have another huge game, this is it. The Buffalo pass defense is a sieve, and the Raiders are going to have to throw to keep up with the Bills offense.
Tight Ends
5 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
That Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders sits fifth in fantasy points among tight ends might seem a little disappointing at first glanceโuntil you realize he has only played three games.
Since missing the first two games of the season with a knee injury, Bowers has been highly productive. Even in last week's blowout loss to the New England Patriots, he caught eight of 10 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Bowers has topped 20 PPR points in all three of his starts this year, and his 23.7 PPR points per game is more than 5.5 points higher than Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals.
Tight End Notes
Tight ends haven't been hit by injuries as hard as wide receivers, but a couple of players at the position went down. Rookie Kenyon Sadiq of the New York Jets and T.J. Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings both suffered concussions.
Minnesota's Week 6 bye gives Hockenson additional time to recover before the team's next game.
Isaiah Likely of the New York Giants was a trendy breakout pick in 2026, and through five weeks at least he deserves some credit. He was the highest-scoring tight end of Week 5 thanks to an 11/94/2 line, and he sits second at the position in PPR points for the season.
It may be time to start having uncomfortable conversations about Colston Loveland of the Chicago Bears. Last week in Titletown, Loveland had two catches for 19 yards, and he barely has more PPR points for the season than Bowers is averaging per game.
Start of the Week
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. Arizona Cardinals)
After five catches for 83 yards last week against the Buffalo Bills, Higbee sits sixth in PPR points at tight end over the last three weeks. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have given up the fifth-most PPR points per game to tight ends in 2026.
Sit of the Week
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (vs. Chicago Bears)
Pitts caught five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5. However, he faces a tougher fantasy matchup Sunday against a Bears team allowing the third-fewest PPR points to tight ends this season.
Sleeper of the Week
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
With eight catches for 61 yards and three touchdowns over the last two weeks, it might be a stretch to call Freiermuth a "sleeper." His productive stretch could continue this week in a plus fantasy matchup for tight ends with the Buccaneers.
Team Defenses and Kickers
6 of 6.jpg?w=2560)
Kickers are changing late-game strategy across the NFL.
In just the past few weeks, we have seen a pair of games decided by kickers hitting a 57-yarder as time expired. Both teams had less than 10 seconds left when the ball was kicked off to them.
But a touchback followed by a 25-yard completionโor a long kickoff returnโcan put a team at the opponent's 40-yard line. A kicker like Jacksonville's Cam Little can bang it through from there with room to spareโwith a defensive tackle snapping the ball, no less.
What used to be desperation kicks that only a couple of kickers in the league had a real chance to hit are now commonplace.
We are going to see a 70-yard field goal soon.
Team Defense and Kicker Notes
For the most part, the Houston Texans defense has disappointed to this point in the season. But edge-rusher Will Anderson Jr. can't be blamed for those strugglesโafter three sacks last week against the Tennessee Titans, Anderson has an NFL-high 7.5 sacks for the year.
It wasn't supposed to be this way, but the Los Angeles Chargers have become an offense to target with fantasy defenses, allowing the most fantasy points per game to the position in the AFC. With the Kansas City Chiefs coming off their bye and playing at home, they are an elite fantasy play in Week 6.
Five weeks in, five kickers have attempted at least 10 field goals without a miss: Spencer Shrader, Will Reichard, Evan McPherson, Jason Myers and Andre Szmyt.
Start of the Week
New England Patriots Defense (vs. New York Jets)
After a rocky start to the season, the Patriots have rebounded in a big way the past two weeks, with the defense playing a big part. Over the last 15-plus years, the Jets have one win at Gillette Stadium. One.
Spencer Shrader, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Tennessee Titans)
Since Week 2, Shrader has peeled off four straight games with at least 12 fantasy points. Now, fantasy's highest-scoring kicker gets a Titans team allowing the most fantasy points per game to kickers this year.
Sit of the Week
Las Vegas Raiders Defense (vs. Buffalo Bills)
The run with the Raiders defense was fun while it lastedโbut it's over. The Raiders have fallen out of the top-12 after back-to-back clunkers in bad matchups, and now Vegas hosts the buzzsaw that is the Buffalo Bills offense.
Tyler Bass, Buffalo Bills (at Las Vegas Raiders)
After his game-winning heroics on Monday night, Bass has climbed into the top 10 among fantasy kickers for the season. But the Raiders have been giving up far more extra points than field-goal attempts the past couple of weeks.
Sleeper of the Week
Baltimore Ravens Defense (at Cleveland Browns)
The Ravens haven't been especially relevant in fantasyโthe team barely ranks inside the top 20 in fantasy points. But this week Baltimore draws a reeling Browns offense that just allowed eight sacks to the New York Jets.
Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh Steelers (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Boswell is one of this writer's favorite kickersโa steady veteran on a good (but not great) offense. Throw in a top-five fantasy matchup for his position with the Buccaneers this week, and you have the recipe for success.
