JuJu Smith-Schuster Works Out for Vikings After OBJ Contract, WR Released by Giants in Preseason
After being released by the New York Giants ahead of training camp, JuJu Smith-Schuster could have the chance to suit up for a new team.
Per Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, the veteran wide receiver worked out with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. The Vikings previously signed Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad following his release from the Giants.

Justin Watson Back With Chiefs
Smith-Schuster, a Pro Bowler in 2018, spent his first five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before helping the Kansas City Chiefs win a Super Bowl in 2022. After a stint with the New England Patriots in 2023, he rejoined the Chiefs for the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.
While Smith-Schuster was no longer the player he once was, he managed to make an impact for the Chiefs last year, recording 345 yards and a touchdown in 17 games.
After signing with the Giants in June, he was hoping to find his way onto the 53-man roster, but the team released him in August while he was battling a knee injury. The knee injury, plus his declining production, was enough for New York to want to part ways with him.
The Vikings were without Justin Jefferson last week because of an ankle sprain, but he returned to action against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and had seven receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.
The team's second option at receiver, Jordan Addison, is dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss Sunday's matchup, so Minnesota perhaps is looking for some help in the meantime.
Beckham initially signed to the Vikings' practice squad but was elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game. Smith-Schuster will perhaps look to take a similar path.
