Why Your Favorite Star Will Lose WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Matches

Erik Beaston
Oct 7, 2026

WWE presents its annual Money in the Bank premium live event from New Orleans this Saturday night, with members of the men's and women's rosters vying for the namesake briefcase that will guarantee them a shot at a world title at the time of their choosing.

It is a time of great surprise and excitement for fans as they wait to see which Superstars will conquer their opponents, retrieve the briefcase, and set themselves up for a magical moment in the near future.

Which is why I am here to put my hater hat on and tell you exactly why each competitor will not win the match, including two that will absolutely, positively, most definitely not capture the briefcase this weekend in the Big Easy.

Women's Ladder Match

Roxanne Perez

The Prodigy has momentum on her side after WWE Creative finally realized she has been part of the main roster for over a year now, with two ongoing rivalries across Raw and AAA. Still, despite that, the only way Perez wins this one is if Liv Morgan regains the Women's World Championship and the long-term plan is for her to cash in on her Judgment Day teammate.

Considering how long it took the powers that be to do anything of substance with her in the first place, I wouldn't hold my breath that she leaves the Big Easy with the briefcase.

Lola Vice

The NXT export is too new to the main roster, and considering the creative team picks and chooses who they worry about shoving down the audience's throats (right, Bron Breakker), it is too early for the former MMA competitor to win the guaranteed title shot.

A more realistic triumph is over Raquel Rodriguez for the Women's Intercontinental Championship.

Lash Legend

Legend has been booked tremendously in her big-match appearances, looking like a world beater each time. The follow-up has been lackluster, though, and the former pro basketball player has shown no real progress since her Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber performances.

Unless Trips and Co. are planning a massive surprise for the next season of WWE Unreal, expect Legend to look great, smash some fools, and then lose, like always.

Jacy Jayne

Jayne, the leader of Fatal Influence, is probably the most likely to win the match, which is why she will not.

The reigning Women's United States Champion, she has been fast-tracked for main-roster success since she, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid arrived on SmackDown, and justifiably so.

Expect her teammates to make their presence felt, but for Jayne to take a big bump through a table that probably won't break, or, inexplicably, a ladder that will, and to lose the match dramatically.

Tiffany Stratton

The only woman in the match to previously win the briefcase, Stratton makes sense as she has gotten close to Chelsea Green, and there is plenty of storytelling to be had as a result.

And therein lies why Stratton will not win.

The current creative regime has never met a swerve they did not love or an opportunity to outthink the fans. If they suspect that Stratton makes the most sense, they will book her to lose here and find another way to get her and Green on a collision course.

Expect a big aerial feat but another "L" for Tiffy Time in New Orleans.

Which brings us to the wrestler who is most unlikely to win Saturday night...

Definitely Not Winning The Most: Sol Ruca

Did you see how quickly they took the Women's Intercontinental Championship off Ruca and gave it to Raquel Rodriguez, then did nothing with her as champion, either?

Ruca still has a bright future and has been much better in recent weeks, but there is no way WWE puts her in a position to have a future world title shot against Stephanie Vaquer, Becky Lynch, or Liv Morgan when they were not completely happy with her follow-up to the initial star-making rivalry with Lynch.

Ruca is a wildly talented athlete and could very well steal the show Saturday night, if her previous Ladder Match performances in NXT are any indication, but she definitely will not be lugging that briefcase around airports for the foreseeable future.

Kevin Owens

Owens carrying the briefcase and sarcastically taunting former best friend Sami Zayn with it for a few weeks or months would be tremendously fun, but that does not feel like the direction WWE Creative is headed with him.

There is unfinished business with another participant in this year's Money in the Bank match and that should factor heavily into his fate in Saturday's contest.

Do expect to cringe or shout "oh my god" at least once, though, as Owens has a rich history of teeth-grinding bumps in these kinds of matches.

Trick Williams

It is too early for Williams to win the briefcase.

Sure, WWE Creative has dropped little hints in backstage confrontations that Williams is coming for the top prize in the company, but he just got the United States Championship back, and forcing any further of a push at this point would feel counterproductive considering how popular he already is.

He will get his and be the world champion someday, but not now.

Je'Von Evans

Evans has evolved his game so quickly in recent months that if I had the book, I would at least consider giving him the briefcase, building his star for the next year, and booking a surprise title chance sometime next summer.

I am not the almighty Triple H, though, so expect the Young OG to steal the show, wow the fans, take a monster bump, and lose.

Still, he has been all over TV, so the prospect of him eventually hitting the main event scene is not in question.

Penta

In a perfect world, Penta would score the win in his second major ladder match this year, capture the briefcase, and cash in on Roman Reigns at some point in the near future to capitalize on his unprecedented popularity and momentum.

Tis not a perfect world, though.

While the luchador has to be considered a favorite to win the briefcase, he has already cooled down somewhat from his September 14 close call against the OTC. The crowd will be behind him, but expect another "so close, but so far away" finale for the veteran competitor

Bron Breakker

On paper, this is Breakker's match to win. The Badass was reheated over the summer by way of his rivalry with Oba Femi, and if there was ever a time to pull the proverbial trigger and give him the briefcase, it is now.

As we have already covered, Triple H and the creative team have a universal fear of shoving Breakker down the audience's collective throat. You know, in comparison to other Superstars, they have repeatedly opted to take their time launching the second-generation competitor into the stratosphere.

Sounds logical, right?

Breakker may very well leave New Orleans with the briefcase, but until it happens, I refuse to believe it.

Speaking of not believing it, there is one more Superstar who definitely will not be leaving Money in the Bank with the briefcase for the third time in his Hall of Fame career...

Definitely Not Winning the Most: CM Punk

4 of 4
SmackDown

Nor does he have to.

This is no knock on Punk by any means. He is a guy who can walk right into the main event picture tomorrow, challenge for a title, and win it. He is as believable and legitimate a top Superstar as there is in the company, and his days of having to win briefcases to justify title shots are way behind him.

One of the best wrestlers in WWE history, he is fresh off his latest run with the gold, and winning the briefcase Saturday night does, quite literally, nothing to boost him in any measurable way.

It does not even serve as a means of propelling a storyline forward. It would be a win for a win's sake and little more.

Look for his rivalry with Kevin Owens to rear its head and take both men out, or perhaps a cameo by a desperate Sami Zayn to prevent Punk from earning another shot.

Either way, the Best in the World is not carrying a briefcase again.
