McKenna also picked up his first career point earlier in the contest, assisting on a goal by John Tavares.
At 18 years and 290 days old, McKenna became the youngest Maple Leafs player at the time of his first point since Drake Berehowsky in 1990.
Tuesday night marked McKenna's fourth appearance during his rookie season, as he amassed three shots on goal across his first three games.
Expectations are high for McKenna given his draft status as well as his 2025-26 campaign at Penn State in which he racked up 51 points in 35 games.
The Maple Leafs entered Tuesday's action looking to improve upon their 1-2-0 start to the regular season.
