Dak Prescott Hypes Joey Porter Jr.'s Trade to Cowboys from Steelers, CB Can 'Shut a Side Down'
Dak Prescott was excited about the Dallas Cowboys acquiring cornerback Joey Porter Jr. in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday night.
"He's a good corner," Prescott said Thursday, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "He's the guy that can play physical, play man to man and take a receiver away, shut a side down. And now to have that on our side, playmaker when the ball's in the air. I know he went and got one on me on almost a 50-50 ball that he didn't make it seem that way at all. And when you've got a guy like that with ball skills and hunger for the ball, you want him on your team. I'm so glad we have him."

New Cowboys-Porter Jr. Rumors
The Steelers sent Porter to Dallas in exchange for a 2027 conditional sixth-round draft pick as well as a 2028 second-round pick. He needs to be on the Cowboys' gameday roster for two contests this year in order for the 2027 pick to go through.
Porter's change of scenery came after he was unsuccessful in his attempt to land a new contract from the Steelers heading into the 2026 season. He eventually missed Pittsburgh's first three games of the year while dealing with back issues.
The former second-round pick operated as key piece of the Steelers' secondary from 2023-25, starting in 41 of his 47 games played across that span.
Last season, Porter racked up 52 tackles and one interception to go along with one sack in 14 games. His 14 passes defended ranked No. 12 among all players.
Porter has found success against Prescott in the past, picking him off during a matchup between the Cowboys and Steelers in Week 5 of the 2024 season.
Dallas only sits at 1-2 to open its 2026 campaign, although Prescott has still been largely efficient in the pocket.
He's completed 69.5 percent of his throws for 730 yards and seven touchdowns compared to one interception. Prescott's 80.0 QBR ranks No. 5 among 30 qualified quarterbacks this season, via ESPN.
As the Cowboys look to put their slow start behind them, expectations are high for Porter.
