The Dallas Cowboys' draft capital took a hit after the team acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr. in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

The Cowboys now own four picks in the 2027 NFL draft:

  • First Round (Green Bay Packers' pick)
  • Second Round (own pick)
  • Fourth Round (Pittsburgh Steelers' pick)
  • Seventh Round (own pick)

Meanwhile, the Steelers added to their 2027 draft selections with the swap:

  • First Round (own pick)
  • Second Round (own pick)
  • Third Round (own pick)
  • Third Round (Dallas Cowboys' pick)
  • Fifth Round (Dallas Cowboys' pick)
  • Sixth Round (own pick)
  • Seventh Round (own pick)
  • Seventh Round (Miami Dolphins' pick)

Pittsburgh also received a conditional sixth-round draft choice in the Porter trade, which will convey if he's on Dallas' active gameday roster for at least two contests.

Porter has yet to appear in a game this season, dealing with a back issue while also searching for a new contract.

According to Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Sports, there wasn't a new deal in place between Porter and the Cowboys as the trade was completed. He could be able to play against the Houston Texans on Sunday, though.

Porter previously appeared in 14 games for the Steelers during the 2025 season, finishing with 52 tackles, 14 passes defended and one interception. He allowed a mere 57.2 passer rating when targeted (via Pro Football Reference).

The 26-year-old will look to provide a boost to a Cowboys secondary that is dealing with several injuries to players including Malik Hooker, Shavon Revel Jr. and Cobie Durant.

Dallas has allowed 27.3 points per game through three weeks, ranking No. 25 among all teams.

The Cowboys will face the Texans on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
