Garrett Crochet Feels 'Like S--t' and 'Little Bit at Fault' After Red Sox's Playoff Loss to Yankees
The Boston Red Sox attempt to utilize Garrett Crochet out of their bullpen for the playoffs after missing five months in the regular season backfired in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card series against the New York Yankees.
Crochet, who didn't record an out and was charged with four earned runs on Wednesday night, told reporters after the game he feels "like s--t"and a "little bit at fault" for the 9-2 loss.

Crochet last appeared in an MLB game on April 25 when he tossed six shutout innings in a 17-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He went on the injured list four days later due to shoulder inflammation.
Despite not having to undergo surgery, Crochet's recovery process was long and got extended in part because he suffered a lat strain in June.
When the Red Sox unveiled their wild-card roster, Crochet was included as an option for manager Chad Tracy to use out of the bullpen. He entered the game to start the bottom of the sixth inning with Boston trailing 2-1.
Crochet struck out Spencer Jones to start the frame, but a wild pitch allowed Jones to reach first base. The left-hander followed by giving up three straight singles and was pulled in favor of Garrett Whitlock, who allowed all three inherited runners to score.
The big blast in the inning was Cody Bellinger's three-run homer off Whitlock that made it 8-1 and all but ended any hope Boston had.
Crochet was put in a no-win situation and that's how it played out. This was a frustrating season for him coming off an incredible 2025 in which he finished second in AL Cy Young voting.
This is the second consecutive year the Red Sox's season has ended with a loss to the Yankees in the wild-card round.
