Aaron Donald Injury, Latest on Rams Star's Status Provided by Sean McVay Ahead of Eagles Game

The Los Angeles Rams are dealing with a key injury heading into Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Head coach Sean McVay said that star defensive tackle Aaron Donald is dealing with back soreness and didn't practice on Wednesday.

Donald rejoined the Rams in August after initially retiring following the 2023 campaign. He missed Los Angeles' season opener against the San Francisco 49ers as he ramped back up, but he was on the field in Week 2.

Through his first two games, he's recorded four total tackles, one of which was a solo hit. He's played 68 snaps through his first two games, which is about where the Rams expected him to be coming into the season.

After his season debut against the New York Giants, Donald admitted that he was "a little sore."

"I'm a little sore right now, y'all," Donald said. "But it felt good to be back out there again, get that first game under my belt."

The Rams certainly hope to have Donald available against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles this week, but it wouldn't be surprising to see McVay and the coaching staff be cautious in their approach with him. Donald's services will be needed much more in the playoffs than in the regular season.

The Rams came into the season with Super Bowl hopes, but the first three weeks of the season have quickly tempered expectations. Los Angeles dropped its season opener against the Niners, bounced back with a win over the Giants, but lost to the Broncos on Sunday to start the year 1-2.
