Yankees' Cam Schlittler Talks About Red Sox Fans, 'Keeping Receipts' Ahead of MLB Playoff Series

New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler is ready for his team's playoff series against the Boston Red Sox as he looks to get revenge on fans for their comments on the internet.

Schlittler said Monday that while he doesn't make a habit of reading trash talk, he's using what he's seen as "receipts."

"I wouldn't say I'm always on my phone looking for that stuff. At the same time, I don't really live under a rock as well," Schlittler told reporters. "Found ways to use that to my advantage. I think I'm good at keeping receipts."

Schlittler is just in his second season in the majors, but he's very quickly immersed himself in the Yankees' rivalry with the Red Sox. After beating Boston in the wild-card round last year, Schlittler trolled the team on social media.

He revealed in April that his social media post led to death threats from Red Sox fans.

"Most normal fans could care less, right?," Schlittler said. "It's just those diehards that just have nothing else in their lives other than baseball or sports that really care about this and the fact that I play for the Yankees makes it worse for them."

Schlittler grew up outside of Boston and was a fan of the Red Sox growing up, but he's clearly a Yankee through and through now. He has also been dominant against New York's AL East rival, only adding to the Red Sox' dismay towards him.

In five total games against Boston, Schlittler is 3-1 with a 0.56 ERA and 39 strikeouts. Schlittler will be on the mound for Tuesday's wild-card game, where he'll look to continue his dominant run against the Red Sox.

"(You'd) think after last time, how much they were talking before, that they might be trying to quiet it down a little bit," Schlittler told reporters. "...Like, they use me for clicks or whatever it is, and I feel like I've done a good job of handling that so far."
