New MLB Rumors Reveal Dan Wilson's Status As Mariners Manager After Missing 2026 Playoffs

After falling short of the playoffs this season, the Seattle Mariners will be searching for a new manager over the winter.

Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reported that Mariners manager Dan Wilson informed the organization on Sunday that he won't return in 2027.

Wilson took over as manager in Aug. 2024 after Scott Servais was fired following eight-plus seasons at the helm. In Wilson's first full season leading the team, Seattle won the AL West title with a 90-76 record and advanced to the ALCS before losing to the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games.

The 2026 season hasn't been as kind to the Mariners, as they finished with a 76-86 record after defeating the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 in Sunday's finale.

Divish reported that Wilson's decision not to return as manager "didn't come as a surprise," as there had been "growing speculation and rumors that the Mariners would make a managerial change after the season."

Seattle will now be searching for its third manager in the last four seasons, and the team will be hoping to find someone who can bring success for years to come.
