New Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel Trade Rumors Reveal Browns Plans amid NFL QB Injuries

The Cleveland Browns "have no plans" to deal quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel prior to the Nov. 10 trade deadline, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

Sanders in particular has been floated as a theoretical target for the New York Giants after Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury that wipes him out for the rest of the regular season.

Jameis Winston went 11-of-27 for 111 yards and one interception in relief of Dart in a 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Ian Rapoport, Adam Schefter and Mike Garafolo reported Sunday for ESPN that New York has drawn up a list of prospective targets to bolster its QB room. Sanders wasn't included in the group.

That could reflect what Cabot reported. There's no reason to seriously pursue Sanders if Cleveland has signaled from the jump he and Gabriel are unavailable.

Week 2 was a clear improvement from Deshaun Watson, and he temporarily silenced the questions about whether he should remain the starter. But one game doesn't totally cancel out a stronger body of evidence pointing to the three-time Pro Bowler being a significantly diminished version of his peak self.

Should Watson regress and have a few bad outings, coach Todd Monken might be ready to turn the offense over to Sanders, who at least may offer some upside beyond 2026.

Watson's tenure in Cleveland has been marred by injuries as well, so there are no guarantees he'll stay healthy the rest of the way.

More than anything, Browns general manager Andrew Berry could get the sense that Sanders and particularly Gabriel don't have a market robust enough to justify trading them.

Sanders was a fifth-round pick in 2025 who didn't play great in his eight appearances as a rookie. Gabriel was even worse and is still on injured reserve. He won't be eligible to play until Week 5 at the earliest.

If the best he can do is a Day 3 pick in 2027, moving Sanders or Gabriel isn't really worth it for Berry.
