Pope Leo XIV Has Hilarious Response to White Sox Clinching 2026 MLB Playoffs Berth in Video

Pope Leo XIV reacted to the Chicago White Sox clinching a spot in the 2026 postseason.

While he responded with "no comment" when asked by reporters if he had anything to do with the miracle playoff appearance on Friday, he still weighed in on the accomplishment.

"Great things happen in Chicago," Pope Leo XIV said.

The 71-year-old is a Chicago native and noted White Sox fan, as he was spotted in attendance at Game 1 of their World Series matchup with the Houston Astros in 2005.

This year, the White Sox punched their ticket to the playoffs with a 9-1 win over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.

Chicago's turnaround has been impressive, as the club previously lost over 100 games in three consecutive seasons from 2023-25. This included a 2024 campaign in which the White Sox suffered 121 losses, representing an MLB single-season record.

Although Chicago currently holds the final American League Wild Card spot, the team sits just one game back from the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central lead.
