As the end of the regular season nears, Drew Rasmussen looks postseason-ready.

Those who have followed the Rays this season are hardly surprised by Rasmussen's showing on Tuesday. The 31-year-old has put together a career season, coming into the matchup with the Yankees with a 15-5 record, a 2.72 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP, along with 163 strikeouts, a career high by more than 30.

If it weren't for Cam Schlittler's outstanding campaign, Rasmussen would very likely be a frontrunner for the AL Cy Young Award.

Rasmussen started his career with the Milwaukee Brewers but has flourished since joining the Rays and becoming an everyday starter, earning his first All-Star nod last year and another one this season.

Behind Rasmussen's tremendous campaign, the Rays are closing in on winning their first divisional title since 2021. Tampa Bay currently sits atop the AL East at 95-61, five games ahead of the second-placed Yankees. A win over New York on Tuesday would clinch the division.

If Rasmussen can keep his momentum going into the postseason, the Rays very well could make a run at the World Series. They also have another star in the rotation in Nick Martinez, who has a 2.94 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Those two aces make Tampa Bay one of the scariest teams to face for opposing offenses.
