Davante Adams Talks Matthew Stafford's Place Among NFL GOATs After Rams' Win vs. Giants

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams explained why he believes that teammate Matthew Stafford should be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

"Well to be honest, I think we'd be talking about him as maybe the greatest quarterback of all time," Adams said during a Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show (9:26 mark). "The tough part about being a quarterback in this league is so much of your success and how good you are, how legendary you'll become, is based off of winning. Obviously you start in a place like Detroit where they weren't winning at the rate that the Rams have been since he's been here. Since 2021."

"If his whole career had been here with a guy like Sean they'd be saying, 'Is this guy literally the best quarterback that's ever played?' So winning games obviously helps a lot of that," he added. "I always respect the guys that can do it consistently for a really long time."

Stafford and Adams are beginning their second season as teammates, coming off a 28-6 win over the New York Giants on Monday night.

Stafford finished 22-of-31 for 327 yards and four touchdowns compared to one interception.

Adams was Stafford's top target against New York, hauling in a game-high eight receptions for 195 yards and two scores.

With an 11-yard touchdown catch by Adams in the third quarter of the game, Stafford moved into No. 6 on the NFL's all-time passing touchdowns leaderboard.

The veteran signal-caller also sits at No. 6 on the league's all-time passing yards list.

Stafford started his career on the Detroit Lions from 2009-20, but made just three playoff appearances during his 12 seasons with the team.

Since joining forces with the Rams and head coach Sean McVay in 2021, Stafford has advanced to the playoffs four times. He's also won a Super Bowl title to go along with an MVP honor.

Stafford owned a 74-90-1 record as a starter in Detroit compared to a 47-29 record with Los Angeles.
