Marcus Mariota's Former OC Drops Wild Quote Describing QB's Mindset After Jayden Daniels' Injury

For the second time in as many seasons, Marcus Mariota will stand in for Jayden Daniels as he recovers from a dislocated elbow.

As Mariota looks to get the Washington Commanders back on track after a 0-2 start, his former offensive coordinator, Terry Robiskie, offered a colorful analogy to describe the quarterback.

"If Dan Quinn walked into that meeting room and told Marcus Mariota, 'You've got two options to win this game Sunday,'" Robiskie said, per The Athletic's Barry Svrluga. "'You can walk across the Potomac stark naked, or you can walk through a field full of lions wearing nothing but a loincloth made of pork chops,' he'd take the lions. He'd go the hard way."

Robiskie coached Mariota in his early days in the NFL, serving as the Tennessee Titans' coordinator from 2016 to 2017. That gave him the chance to learn a lot about Mariota, such as the fact that he doesn't always make things easy for himself.

Mariota has had a solid career that has seen him start for a handful of teams while serving as the backup quarterback for others. Last season, he appeared in 11 games for the Commanders, throwing for 1,695 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

With the Commanders already sitting at 0-2, Mariota has a tough road ahead trying to keep them in playoff contention, starting with this Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
