Kyler Murray's Injury Status for Bucs Game Updated by Vikings HC After Win vs. Bears

The Minnesota Vikings improved to 2-0 after Sunday's 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears, and more good news could be on the way.

Per ESPN's Kevin Seifert, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced after the game that quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to clear concussion protocol "pretty early in the week," giving him a strong chance to return in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"He's doing great," O'Connell said. "He's feeling well."

O'Connell didn't officially announce Murray as the starter for next week's game, but he showed good progress when he participated in all three practices last week on a limited basis.

Minnesota quarterback Carson Wentz, who replaced Murray when he suffered a concussion in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, threw for 143 yards in Sunday's win over the Bears. He made a few key throws in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings hold onto the lead.

Wentz has been solid in Murray's absence, but there's a chance that the two-time Pro Bowler could take Minnesota's offense to the next level. The Vikings will certainly be hoping that Murray completes his recovery in time to take on the Bucs next Sunday.
