Yordan Alvarez Gives Bold Quote, Calls Team Meeting as Astros Fall in MLB Playoff Standings

Yordan Alvarez was not pleased after the Houston Astros were swept by the Atlanta Braves over the weekend, leaving them a game behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West with just six games remaining.

The superstar slugger told reporters he called a team meeting following Sunday's 4-2 loss:

Alvarez, 29, has more than done his part this season, hitting .313 with 40 homers, 99 RBI, 98 runs and a 1.027 OPS. He's likely going to be the AL MVP, though it likely won't mean nearly as much if the Astros—who have lost 10 of their last 14 games—fail to reach the postseason.

They will have two games remaining against the Seattle Mariners and four against the Athletics to salvage the season. The Rangers will finish with three games against the New York Mets and three games against the Minnesota Twins.
