Browns Beat Bucs After Weather Delay, Box Score Stats, Highlights for Watson, Baker, Top Players

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns had to wait almost two extra hours to confirm their first win of the 2026 NFL regular season.

Cleveland defeated Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-19, in a game that was delayed just under two hours due to inclement weather in Tampa.

Watson and the Cleveland offense didn't come alive until the second half.

The Browns were down 16-6 in the third quarter before Watson ignited the come-from-behind effort.

Watson hit rookie Denzel Boston for a 55-yard touchdown pass that tied the game and swung the momentum fully in the Browns' favor.

Watson threw what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown pass to Blake Whiteheart with 3:51 left in the fourth quarter.

The former Houston Texans quarterback threw for 238 yards in one of his better games in a Browns uniform.

Mayfield struggled for most of the contest with only 182 passing yards. He only completed 61.8 percent of his passes and had a handful of overthrows, including one on the closing drive.

Mayfield's only touchdown pass of the game was a five-yard delivery to Emeka Egbuka at the start of the third quarter.

Instead of finding his stride in the second half, Mayfield continued to struggle and allowed the Browns to work their way back into the game behind Watson.

Watson and the Browns are now headed back home for three contests at home in their next four, starting with a Week 3 clash versus the Carolina Panthers. Tampa Bay hosts the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.
