Trey Hendrickson 'Broke a Finger Into Several Pieces' in Ravens Debut, Latest Injury Buzz for Week 2

Baltimore Ravens pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson will reportedly be on the field for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints despite suffering a setback in his team's season-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Hendrickson "broke a finger into several pieces this week" but will still play with a cast on his hand to protect the injury.

Hendrickson missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday before he was limited Friday. That left his official status as questionable for Sunday's game, but he will be on the field anchoring Baltimore's pass-rush.

That pass-rush was excellent for stretches of the Week 1 win over the Colts, as the Ravens tallied two sacks and nine quarterback hits against Daniel Jones. Hendrickson himself did not post a quarterback hit or sack, but he drew additional attention from the offensive line at times and opened up more favorable blitzing lanes for his teammates.

Tavius Robinson in particular stood out with four quarterback hits and one sack.

While Hendrickson was limited to four games last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, he led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024 when he appeared in all 17 games. He also made his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl and was named to the First Team All-Pro as a result.

That was the pass-rusher the Ravens envisioned adding when they brought in Hendrickson after their trade for Maxx Crosby was nullified. And he will look to get his first sack with the Ravens on Sunday despite the cast on his hand.

New Orleans is coming off a 31-30 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions in its season opener, and quarterback Tyler Shough was sacked five times in defeat. Whether Baltimore can generate that type of pressure could make the difference in the game, as Shough also threw for 410 yards and looked more comfortable as the game progressed.

In fact, the Saints forced overtime despite falling behind 21-0 in the third quarter.

If Hendrickson and Co. can make life difficult on Shough, they could avoid some of the late-game drama the Lions had to survive in Week 1.
