Josh Allen Makes NFL History with Rare Stats After Wins vs. Texans, Lions to Open Season

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen started the 2026 season with one of the most productive two-game stretches in NFL history.

Allen recorded his ninth touchdown of the season as the Bills orchestrated a 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions.

Allen joined former Hall of Famer Ernie Nevers as the second player in NFL history to rack up nine total touchdowns and at least four rushing touchdowns in a five-day span, according to Opta Stats (h/t Bills PR).

The feat was last achieved by Nevers with the Arizona Cardinals in 1929.

Allen passed for two touchdowns and ran in two more last Sunday during the Bills' season-opening win at the Houston Texans.

He recorded another five touchdowns, including three passing and two rushing, during Thursday's victory over the visiting Lions.

Allen has completed 66.7 percent of his passes and thrown no interceptions during the Bills' 2-0 start to the season. He'll now get a longer break before the Bills return to action a week from Sunday with a home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
