Cowboys' Quinnen Williams Says He's 'Got to Do Better' After Assessing Performance in Loss to Giants

After a lackluster performance in the Dallas Cowboys' Week 1 loss against the New York Giants, star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams knows he needs to make more of an impact for the team to be successful.

Williams told team reporter Tommy Yarrish that he wasn't pleased with his performance against the Giants, and he's motivated to return to his usual self.

"No, not at all man," Williams said. "Can't nobody in this world hold me accountable more than I hold myself. Can't nobody in this world critique me more than myself. So I expect to be dominant every single week, I expect to be a playmaker or a game changer every single week. I wasn't that, and I got to do better."

Williams finished with just three tackles in Dallas' 28-20 loss against a New York team that is still completing a rebuild under first-year head coach John Harbaugh.

A Pro Bowl selection in each of the last four years, Williams was rewarded with a three-year, $105.9 million extension this offseason that made him the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL. The Cowboys gave up a 2025 second-round pick and the higher of their two first-rounders this year to acquire him from the New York Jets, so he will have to produce in a big way to live up to expectations.

Williams will try to bounce back when the Cowboys return to action on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
