Caleb Williams Addresses 'Mental War' vs. Flores, Vikings as Ben Johnson, Bears Eye Historic Offense
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams knows to expect a challenge as he prepares to face off with the Minnesota Vikings and their Brian Flores-led defense.
Williams told reporters that Flores will "game-plan from first snap to last snap," per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.
"Coach calls this 'mental war' when you go against versus him. That's what it is," the signal-caller said. "You've got to be able to go out there bad things are going to happen, bad things are gonna happen. You've got to be able to fight back and stay steady. That's one of the biggest things is not allowing his defense and all of that to fluster you and get in your mind. That's one of the first. You stay steady and now it's time to go make plays and get completions and when the big ones show up, take them and find them."

LSU Duo Banned from NFL in 2026
Prior to the regular season, Bears coach Ben Johnson set a goal of having the highest-scoring offense in NFL history. The team is on course through the first week after hanging 59 points on the Carolina Panthers.
Chicago is bound to encounter more resistance when opposing one of its division rivals.
The Vikings allowed Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love to throw for 387 yards, but they forced two turnovers and sacked Love four times. Minnesota's defense played a key role in the team outscoring Green Bay 29-3 in the second half.
Williams is 1-3 against the Vikings through his first two years. In those four games, he had 934 passing yards and four touchdowns to zero interceptions. He wasn't prolific but avoided too many costly mistakes.
Johnson has even more experience against Flores from his three years as offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. As much as he'll want to light up the scoreboard Sunday, he'll accept winning ugly if it comes to that.
