Former MLB Draft Pick Cam Schiller Banned from Softball for 3 Years After Steroid Doping Violation

Former MLB draft pick Cam Schiller won't be able to play for USA Softball for three years due to a failed steroid test.

The International Testing Agency announced Wednesday that Schiller has accepted a three-year ban for violating the organization's anti-doping policy.

Per the ITA, Schiller tested positive for norandrosterone in a sample collected on July 13, 2025. He was provisionally suspended the following month and a B sample confirmed the presence of the same steroid.

By agreeing to accept the ban, Schiller's suspension was reduced by one year from four to three. He will be eligible to return on Aug. 7, 2028.

The ITA also announced Schiller's individual results from the 2025 WBSC Men's Softball World Cup, when his sample was originally collected, will be disqualified, including medals, points and prizes.

Schiller hit .450/.500/.700 in six games for Team USA during the 2025 WSBC Men's Softball World Cup. The United States defeated Japan 10-1 in the bronze-medal game.

An infielder who played college baseball at Oral Roberts, Schiller was a seventh-round draft pick by the Texas Rangers in 2012. He played two seasons in Low-A before shifting to softball.

Schiller has played for the U.S. in the WSBC Men's Softball World Cup three times since 2019. He won a bronze medal with the team in 2022.
