Vikings Beat Packers, Box Score Stats, Highlights for Love, Jefferson, Top Players as Kyler Injured

Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings worked their way to a Week 1 39-22 comeback victory over Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The home team was listed as the narrow 1.5-favorite ahead of the matchup, per FanDuel Sportsbook with a new quarterback under center in Minnesota. 

In Kyler Murray's Minnesota Vikings debut, he was forced out early after an illegal hit by Packers safety Javon Bullard sent him to the locker room in the first quarter.

The Vikings announced that Murray was being evaluated for a concussion before he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Murray spent his first seven years in the league with the Arizona Cardinals. 

After Murray went down, 11-year veteran quarterback Carson Wentz stepped in, leading the Vikings back from a 22-10 deficit with just over five minutes left in the third quarter.

Murray's first throw in purple and gold was not what he hoped for, as he threw an interception that was returned 11 yards and set up Green Bay for a field goal.

Love added to the score with an 81-yard bomb to Christian Watson before Minnesota added a field goal to close out the quarter. Green Bay led 9-3 after 15 minutes.

Despite an opening field goal from Green Bay in the second, neither offense could get it going.

Minnesota was the first to convert with just under two minutes remaining, with Wentz finding Jefferson on a 39-yard pass for six.

Love and Green Bay marched down the field with an efficient 1:41 drive, Love finding Watson once more for a score to stretch the lead to 19-10 before halftime.

Green Bay added a field goal, but Minnesota was the lone team to find the end zone out of the break, with Wentz finding T.J. Hockenson with a 16-yard connection to the finish line, closing the gap 22-17. 

The Vikings put the hammer down in the fourth on both sides of the ball. 

Aaron Jones Sr. added a touchdown on the day, while Wentz and Jefferson connected for a two-point conversion. A fumble recovery returned to Green Bay's 1-yard line turned into a Jordan Mason score, and an interception led to another Jefferson touchdown to seal the deal.

Green Bay will hit the road to face the New York Jets next Sunday while Minnesota will head to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears, both scheduled to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET.
