Patrick Mahomes Gives Surprising Quote on Injury Return After Knee Surgery Before Chiefs vs. Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes knew long ago that he'd return from knee surgery in time for Monday night's season opener against the Denver Broncos.
Jay Glazer reported on Sunday's episode of FOX NFL Pregame that Mahomes told him that he felt capable of playing in Week 1 since the start of the summer.
"He told me two weeks ago, he's like, 'Glaze, I was ready in the first week of June. I can do everything,'" Glazer said.
Mahomes announced last week that he will be able to play in Monday night's matchup without limitations, just nine months removed from knee surgery after tearing his ACL and LCL last season. Glazer noted that Mahomes chose not to wait for his knee swelling to go down before undergoing surgery, which helped accelerate his recovery timeline.
The Chiefs are hoping to return to title contention after missing the playoffs last season, and having Mahomes healthy to start the year is a positive sign.
