Josh Allen Addresses Windy Weather Concerns at Bills' New Stadium in Video with Chris Berman

The new Highmark Stadium still exposes the Buffalo Bills to the elements, but star quarterback Josh Allen is confident the venue can mitigate some of the effects of the historically tough winters in the region.

In an interview with Allen for Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN's Chris Berman asked the 2024 NFL MVP if he believes the Bills have "solved the wind" with how they built the stadium.

"I think they've solved most of it," Allen said (3:10 mark). "I think it'll still be a little wind in here, but I think it's gonna cut it in half."

The Bills could've eliminated this problem altogether by enclosing Highmark Stadium. That was never part of the plan, though, and Allen told Berman he thought more home fans want outdoor games over sitting in a comfortable dome setting.

Instead, the designers attempted to create "wind confusion," which would theoretically cause less gusts to get down to the field.

The Athletic's Tim Graham said the early reviews weren't totally encouraging after the Bills opened new Highmark during the preseason.

"I've also heard concerns about wind in the concourses, which construction workers have been whispering about for the past year," he reported in August. "They say the wind howls through there. Much was made about the new Highmark Stadium being weatherproof, but the wind and rain already seem like issues. Maybe they won't be on the field, which is what some of the technology was meant to address, but the fans endured Saturday night."

The architects might have to go back to the drawing board.
