Russell Wilson Thinks Joe Burrow 'Wants to Leave' Bengals, Predicts Exit if Team Struggles

Former NFL quarterback Russell Wilson debuted as an NFL analyst for CBS on Sunday, and he's already making some bold predictions.

During Sunday's episode of NFL Today, Wilson declared, "I'm telling you right now, if it doesn't go well in Cincinnati this year, Joe Burrow is gone. I think he wants to leave."

For his part, Burrow has maintained his commitment to the Bengals. He recently said in an interview with the team's website that he hopes to remain in Cincinnati long-term despite the lack of success in the past few years.

"I'm here for the long haul," Burrow said, per ESPN's Ben Baby. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm just trying to bring a now-or-never mentality to the day-by-day process. If you're not, what are you doing? Attack the day with a championship mindset. The rest will take care of itself."

The Bengals have missed the playoffs in each of the last three years. While Burrow is part of one of the best passing attacks in the league with wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Cincinnati's defense has performed well below expectations. The team signed defensive end Boye Mafe and safety Bryan Cook in free agency and traded for Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II this offseason.

Burrow also previously declared that he's looking to lead the Bengals to a Super Bowl title this season. While it would be disappointing to fall short of his goals, it would be a massive surprise if he fulfills Wilson's prediction and pushes to leave Cincinnati after this season.
