Jon Stewart to Host WWE SummerSlam 2015: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Joseph ZuckerAug 17, 2015

Now that Jon Stewart has walked away from The Daily Show, he has a bit of time on his hands. The famous comedian and satirist will spend some of his newly discovered free time at SummerSlam on Sunday.

WWE announced Monday that Stewart will serve as host for the massive pay-per-view event.

Early this year, Stewart was engaged in a social media feud with current WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins. Rollins then proceeded to interrupt Stewart during his "Moment of Zen" segment on the Feb. 26 broadcast of The Daily Show:

Their quarrel culminated on the March 2 Raw:

You can bet Stewart will call that back when he shows up at SummerSlam. Perhaps he'll interfere in Rollins' match with John Cena as well.

Bleacher Report's Ryan Dilbert praised WWE's decision to bring Stewart back:

Complex's Russ Bengtson is already fantasy-booking more potential WWE-celebrity crossovers:

It's one thing to simply add mainstream celebrities to major events such SummerSlam and WrestleMania; it's another to add mainstream stars who also have a passion for wrestling.

Even if his role at SummerSlam is limited to a few minutes, Stewart should provide a memorable moment to be replayed for years on end.
