Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Drops Hype Video Ahead of Return from Knee Injury, 'See Ya Monday'

Patrick Mahomes released a new hype video narrated by rapper BigXthaPlug ahead of his 2026 season debut in a Thursday post on Instagram.

"See you Monday," Mahomes wrote in the caption of the post.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is set to be back under center for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in Week 15 of the 2025 season.

Mahomes' recovery has been impressive, as his upcoming Week 1 appearance will be just nine months after the injury occurred. He plans to wear a brace during the contest.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that the team won't use an altered game plan, as the two-time MVP has been active in training camp.

"He's shown he can do [everything]," Reid said Thursday, per ESPN's Nate Taylor. "We won't hold anything back that we wouldn't normally. He's geared up and ready to go. It's just a matter of getting out there and playing.

"I know he's excited to get going. It's been hard for him to sit there and watch. That's not his style. I'm sure he'll be fired up to get out there and finally be able to play, especially [because of] the hard work he put into it."

During the 2025 season, Mahomes completed 62.7 percent of his throws for 3,587 yards and 22 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 422 yards and five scores.

The Chiefs fell short of expectations both with and without Mahomes, owning a 6-8 record in his 14 starts before finishing at 6-11 overall. It was a disappointing result for a Kansas City squad that has won three Super Bowl titles and made several deep playoff runs throughout the signal-caller's tenure with the organization.

Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos to begin their 2026 campaign. Kickoff is on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
