Robert Saleh Drops Bold Jets Prediction in New Video Ahead of Titans' 2026 NFL Opener vs. NYJ

Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is very familiar with the New York Jets ahead of Sunday's season opener, and he had a bold prediction for his Week 1 opponents.

Saleh, who served as head coach of the Jets for three-plus seasons from 2021 to 2024, told reporters on Wednesday that he expects New York to have a top-16 offense during the 2026 campaign, something the team hasn't achieved since 2015.

"I fully expect them to be a really, really good offense as the year progresses, and I would not be surprised if this unit finishes in the top half of the league," Saleh said. "It's pretty talented."

Saleh was part of the regime that drafted some of the Jets' top offensive stars, including wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall and guard Joe Tippmann. His tenure as head coach was hampered by poor quarterback play, as 2021 No. 2 pick Zach Wilson was a major draft bust, and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers failed to be the savior after tearing his Achilles four plays into his first game as a Jet.

Second-year Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey made a concerted effort to create some stability on both sides of the ball, and they made their most important move on offense when they acquired veteran quarterback Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite a down year in 2025, the former Jets second-round pick is expected to help lift the offense to a respectable level in his second run in New York.

"Geno can still sling it," Saleh said. "When he has time and he can throw the ball and he's got weapons to throw to, he can run a very high-functioning offense."

Both the Jets and Titans are in different stages of their ongoing rebuilds, so neither team is expected to contend for a playoff spot this season. Still, their Week 1 matchup carries some extra juice as Saleh faces his old team and New York's players face their old coach, so it could turn out to be one of the most entertaining games of Sunday's slate.
