Drake Maye Not Eyeing Revenge Game vs. Seahawks for Super Bowl 60 in Patriots' Season Opener

Drake Maye doesn't view the New England Patriots' season-opening clash with the Seattle Seahawks as an opportunity for revenge for the team's Super Bowl LX defeat.

"They won the big one," Maye said Saturday, per MassLive's Mark Daniels.

Seattle was able to hoist the Lombardi Trophy by wrapping up a 29-13 win over New England in last season's Super Bowl matchup.

Maye finished 27-of-43 for 295 yards and two touchdowns compared to two interceptions in the contest. He also lost a fumble.

It was a tough end to a promising overall season from the Patriots, as their deep playoff run came after a 2024 campaign in which they compiled a 4-13 record.

Maye was particularly stellar last year, finishing No. 2 in MVP voting and earning a Second Team All-Pro nod.

He completed 72.0 percent of his passes for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns while getting picked off just eight times. Maye's 77.1 QBR ranked No. 1 among 28 qualified quarterbacks, via ESPN.

The Patriots have their sights set on putting together another strong year in 2026 following a busy offseason. They made several additions on offense, signing wide receiver Romeo Doubs and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker in free agency.

They also acquired three-time Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1.

Although the Seahawks didn't make any major external offseason additions and lost running back Kenneth Walker III in free agency, they're still a threat to win consecutive Super Bowl titles.

After all, they still boast an offense headlined by reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba and a defense that ranked No. 1 in the NFL by allowing a mere 17.2 points per game last season.

Even if a Patriots win over Seattle in Week 1 won't make up for their Super Bowl loss, it would help them open the year with plenty of momentum.
