A.J. Brown Praises Drake Maye's Arm Talent, Says Patriots QB Has 'Made My Job A Lot Easier'

The relationship between New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver A.J. Brown is off to a great start, as evidenced by their sitdown interview with Football Night in America analyst Devin McCourty, who asked how things are going so far (1:07 mark).

"It's been great," Brown said.

"He's made my job a lot easier. He's such a great guy. He always takes the blame for any little thing, and I'm like, 'Drake, it's OK, it's not that deep.'

"He's incredible, man. He's fun to play with, and I can't wait."

Brown added when asked how Maye makes his life easier: "His arm talent. He can make any throw from anywhere on the field."

Maye had nice words for Brown as well.

"I think it's important with a player of AJ's caliber who's been in the league and has success in the league that he knows what it's like to be in the same page with the quarterback and knowing how important the relationships, not just on the field but off the field and knowing what he's seeing on film and not just going in separate position rooms and then talk about it, talk about it on the field, but talk about it outside of practice and outside of the game.

"And I think that's when it comes to life, those meetings, with him or with the receivers, me and the receivers, and those guys in there of what they're seeing, what I'm seeing, trying to get on the same page."

The Patriots were in the market for a No. 1 wide receiver after parting ways with Stefon Diggs, who led the team with 85 catches and 1,013 yards, last March. They found one in Brown, who arrived in town via trade on June 1 after the Pats sent a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round draft choice to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown has amassed 1,000 or more receiving yards in six of his seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2019-2021) and Eagles (2022-2025). He made the All-Pro Second Team each season from 2022-2024 as well. Last year, Brown ended with 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.

It's clear Maye and Brown are getting along quite well so far, and we'll see how their partnership develops soon enough when the Pats face the host and Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday in a rematch of last season's Super Bowl, which the Seahawks won 29-13.
